Hailing from Gormanston Co.Meath and educated in Castleknock College, Aidan won his first Irish cap on tour with Ireland against Western Samoa in 2003. Aidan spent 5 seasons as a professional rugby player for Leinster and captained Leinster at U19, U20 and Senior level. He is a versatile forward who can play anywhere in the back five.

Having spent a season playing in the French first division with Dax as a 20 year old, where he replaced Olivier Magne Aidan once again left Lansdowne and Leinster in May 2005 to take up a contract with french giants Toulouse. Aidan played 16 times for Toulouse in 6 months before picking up a knee injury. Aidan joined forces with Magne once again when he signed for London Irish for two years ending in June 2008. “Lard” is renowned for his excellent ball handling skills and is a very useful Sevens player having represented Ireland in the IRB Sevens world cup in Argentina and captaining the side on 10 occasions.

Aidan returned to the Lansdowne first XV in the 08/09 season and is presently doing invaluable work for the club as Player Coach to the 1st XV in company with Willie Clancy. He won 3 senior cup medals with the club and has helped the club to regain 1st Division status in the all Ireland League for the 2010/11 season. Aidan has represented Lansdowne in the last 2 times Lansdowne reached the AIL final. This season let’s hope he makes it a third.
