David Kiely

Joined the Club in the 1961/’62 season.  He had previously played several seasons with University College Cork where he studied medicine and spent some time in the USA and England pursuing his career as a surgeon.

As a result of several dashing displays for Munster he was picked against Wales at Lansdowne Road in 1962 in company with fellow Lansdowne player Mick English and went on to win 4 more caps in a row whilst with Lansdowne.  He was very fast and a deadly tackler and would probably have had many more caps had he not been abroad for several years as he was 27 by the time he was first capped.  His two brothers Paddy and Edward (both doctors) also played with the Club.

He was honoured with Captaincy of the Club in 1963/’64.
