George Seriven

Played regularly for Lansdowne in 1875 and 1876 but at that time the demarcation line between Lansdowne and Trinity College was somewhat nebulous and he appears to have played with both clubs from time to time.

He captained Lansdowne in 1878/79. He played back row for Sveland except 1883 when he played scrumhalf and captained Ireland against Scotland in Belfast. Extraordinarily in 1883, as captain, he was also chairman of the Selection Committee and President of the I.R.F.U.

Outside of rugby he practised as a medical doctor next door to Oliver St. John Gogarty when the celebrated and WIT had rooms at St. Stephens Green.
