Leo Lynch

Learned his rugby at Castleknock College and joined the Club in 1949 having meantime played for Trinity College.  He won Leinster Senior Cup medals in 1949, 1950 and 1953 and captained the Club in the 1954/’55 season.

In gaining his first cap he was joining his Lansdowne Club mates Paddy Berkery and Rev. Robin Roe and that team also contained such notables as Jackie Kyle, Andy Mulligan, Gordon Wood and A.J.F. O’Reilly.

He had played many times for Leinster up to then but shortly after this he moved to Belfast in connection with the family business which did not help towards gaining further caps.

He returned to play a further season with Lansdowne in 1959/’60 prior to retiring.  After his retirement from rugby he became a useful golfer and captained his Club Milltown.

He still continued to support Lansdowne and was honoured with the Presidency in 1981/’82 following in the well worn footsteps of his former team mates, Jack Dawson, Jack Coffey, Ray Carroll and Paddy Berkery.
