Paul Collins

Joined Lansdowne in 1986 having previously played with UCC and having been in school at C.B.C. (Cork) in company with Fergus Aherne, a fellow International and Lansdowne captain.  He was part of the Irish Squad in the inaugural World Cup in New Zealand/Australia in 1987 and gained his first cap in that tournament against Canada at Dunedin which Irish won 46 – 19 and was partnered in the back row that day with B.J. Spillane and D.G. McGrath.  Ireland ultimately lost in the quarter final to Australia in Sydney 15 – 33.

Paul captained Lansdowne in the 1987/’88 season and won 2 Senior Cup medals and 2 Leinster Senior League medals before moving to England in 1989 where he ended his rugby career with London Irish.
