Robin Roe

Robin Roe graduated from The King’s hospital and TCD and had been ordained a Church of Ireland clergyman before he arrived at Lansdowne in 1954. Injured for most of the 1955 Lions tour, the “reverend hooker” came in for some ribbing because of the enormity of his 20-inch neck, which some suggested was a size more suited to a Roman collar. From Co. Laois, Roe later became a chaplain to the British forces and was awarded the Military Cross for bravery in Aden (1967).
