Following os the AGM report for the 3rd A team
Rugby like everything else moves in cycles and thus after a glorious four year period the J3 have commenced on a re building programme.
Many of the old heads have called time on their playing careers and so it was left to captain Ed Lyons, Coaches Will Sparks and Garret Molloy with Will also doubling up as manager to take control and rescue the team from a nightmare start to the league. We battled on and improved as the season settled in December and early January but not enough to challenge. We finished 7th of 8 in Section A and were thus required to play off with Old Wesley of section B to see who would remain in section A.
On a Sunday in Ballycorus and watched by a sizeable crowd we overcame Wesley 6-0 in a thriller and thus maintained our status. In the cup there was the welcome sight of Beamer pounding around from lineout to lineout as we overcame Clontarf 18-16 in a gutsy display. We exited in the quarter final to Terenure 11-18 in another brave display. Dan O’Brien of J1 coaching renown played in a number of games when available. During the season both Paul Harvey and Art McCoy suffered nasty injuries and we are glad that they are on the mend and available for selection next season.
