Lansdowne Defeat Clontarf 36-6 To Claim 2014 Seniors Seconds Cup

Apr 26, 2014

Lansdowne's J1 emerged victorious in a hard won battle against north-side rivals Clontarf. Clontarf arrived in Lansdowne looking to add the Seniors Seconds Cup to the AIL title, won the previous weekend in the tightest of finishes by their Senior XV.

Tries from Mark Quinn, Ron Boucher, Aaron Thompson, Conor Toolan, Cillian McAndrew and four conversions and a penalty from the trusted boot of Gearoid McDonald saw off a gutsy Clontarf team. The 36-6 scoreline doesn't reflect the amount of pressure that Clontarf exerted on the Lansdowne try line but time and time again, stout defence from Lansdowne ensured that Clontarf would not breach the try line - all night.

Fair to say that Lansdowne were deserving champions on the night and it was a great way to sign off on a superb season. Well done to Ed Lyons and Will Matthews.
