Lansdowne FC Beat Old Belvedere In Leinster Senior League Cup Final

Jun 26, 2017

Lansdowne overcame a resilient Old Belvedere side to claim the Leinster Clubs Senior Cup Final in Donnybrook, and in so doing, lifted the trophy for the 26th time.

Prior to the final, and it's a great historical fact, but Lansdowne hold the unique distinction of being the only club to have won the Senior Cup in three different centuries, their first success being back in 1891.

Indeed, the Leinster Senior Cup is the province’s oldest club competition, which was first contested in 1882.

Lansdowne had a tough run to the final, beating St Mary’s (13-27) and Terenure (15-33) away, before running out convincing winners over Dublin University 51-7 in the semi-final at Lansdowne Road.
