Lansdowne U12’s Tour To Montauban, France

May 18, 2015

The event of the year for the U12’s was the trip to Montauban in April

Friday 24th

@ Dublin & Toulouse:

After a smooth flight out to Toulouse we arrived at our destination Hotel Kyriad in Toulouse City Centre, a minutes’ walk to DeDanu (Trevor Brennan’s) bar/restaurant, for meal & refreshments. Luckily both Leinster & Toulouse were playing that night so De Danu was packed with Toulousains & a great night was had by both players and parents

Saturday

@ Toulouse and Montauban/Montech:

  • Our Bus picked us up at Hotel Kyriad nice & early (!) at 8.00am as we were due to arrive at the blitz at Montech, a small village outside Montauban at  9.00am.
  • The Blitz went from 10.00 to 17.00 with c.1,200 players involved across U8’s, U10’s and U12’s (the blitz was renamed ‘international’ in our honour as we were the only non-French team there !)
  • The level of U12’s Rugby was very good and we received a warm welcome from Alain and Jose, our hosts as well as Alain and Laurent from Montech Rugby Club – The players also won a cup!
  • After the blitz we watched a gripping  professional Match (@ Montauban) between US Montauban V local team Mont de Marsan  followed by a meal at US Montauban club (where a local brass band added a great deal of atmosphere to the festivities!)

Sunday

@ Toulouse:

  • After breakfast and a stroll through beautiful Toulouse, we arrived at the Toulouse Space Museum to be entertained by an IMAX show of the Hubble Telescope as well as a tour through the history of space age discovery.
  • Based on feedback from parents and & the smiles on the players faces throughout the week-end, the trip was a great success....planning has already been discussed for next year.

The trip wouldn’t have happened / special words of thanks go to:
