The Lansdowne U13 B team lost out to DLSP in the B Team plate which was played in Ballycorus last Sunday.
After a very promising start Lansdowne lost Daniel Obineche to a leg injury and with that we lost pace on the right wing. Captained by James Crowley, the team never let up and it was a fantastic display of grit, determination and courage. Though losing touch early in the second half with no chance of recovering the lost ground, the team displayed an absolute resoluteness to play to the final whistle.
As coaches we often look to the scoreboard for the result but in Ballycours on Sunday the result was the achievement of the Lansdowne B team - to never say never - a remarkable day of rugby. When the players and parents look back on the game, Ben McDowell, Matthew O'Farrell, Stephen O'Callaghan, Ben Hardiman, Conor Slattery, Daragh Moran, Sam Loscher, Sam O'Reilly, Michael Malin, Finn Reidy, Conor Moriarty, Sam Hayes, Dan Obineche, Sean Byrne and the aforementioned captain fantastic on the day, James Crowley, they can do so with pride that they played and gave it their best shot.
As coaches we can't ask for more.
