President’s Christmas Greeting

Dec 21, 2011

I would like to take the opportunity to wish all members and their families a very Happy Christmas and a successful New Year and to thank you for the support given to me in the first half of my season as President.

As always happens there have been ups and downs so far but I am glad to say the ups far outweigh the downs. Our young and very exciting 1st XV have done well and face into the New Year with confidence. Mike Ruddock and Emmett Farrell are doing a great job. We have two home games coming up . Firstly we have Garryowen on the 7th of January followed by Blackrock a week later. We need your support so please come along. There are pre-match lunches for planned for both days so please contact Eleanor to book a spot.

No fewer than nine Lansdowne players featured for Leinster both against Bath at Lansdowne Road on Saturday and for the A side against London Welsh on Sunday in the British and Irish Cup. Gordon Darcy, Devin Toner and Eoin Reddan against Bath and Neilus Keogh, John Cooney, Jordi Murphy, Tom Sexton, Jack O'Connell and David Kearney against London Welsh. It is great to see them doing so well.

Incidentally two Lansdowne graduates were on the Munster team also -Johne Murphy and Niall Ronan while I think we even had Daan Human playing for Toulouse! Daan played for us a number of years ago!!

Our under 21s are going very well with the Premier side unbeaten and the Pennant side having lost only once. We had a most successful and enjoyable inaugural Under 21s Legends lunch in Lansdowne on the 16th . It is now a definite date in our yearly calendar. Well done to all concerned.

The 2nds  have had some great results and one or two strange ones. The 3rds are going very well as are the 3rdAs and Bs so the Club is a hive of activity. Its great stuff but we must continue to work hard to keep it going into the second half of the season. No Cups are won in December!!

My thanks co all committee members coaches, managers bagmen and players who put in such effort. Keep up the good work and I am sure we will get the results--as well as having a bit of fun along the way!!

Happy Christmas

Paddy Boylan
