Tough Contest As Lansdowne Beat Young Munster

Oct 27, 2013

Lansdowne were thoroughly deserving of thier 29-22 victory over Young Munster at Lansdowne Rd. Tries from Cian Aherne, Willie Earle, Mark Roche, Tyrone Moran and three conversions and a penalty from Scott Deasy brought this eagerly awaited victory for the defending All Ireland champions.

Though well deserved, this was a hard fought win and at half time it was anyone's game as Young Munster led 13-7. Poor discipline arising from continuous Lansdowne pressure cost Young Munster's dearly and they were reduced to 14 men just before half time and to 13, just after the restart. The second half belonged to Lansdowne and they put 22 points on the board to Young Munster's 11.

Mike Ruddock will be pleased overall with his team's performance: on a wet and windy day at HQ, against a strong Young Munster's pack that came to Dublin to secure maximum points, they secured a bonus point win.

Elsewhere, UCD continued their impressive start to the season with an away win over Garyowne in Dooradoyle. Cork Constitution grinded out a 3-3 draw with Old Blevedere which leaves UCD sitting top of Division 1A of the All Ireland League.
