On Friday 19 May 172 Golfers participated in the final Event of the 150 Celebrations. Milltown GC was the location for 43 teams of 4 starting in two phases. The first 20 teams enjoyed a good Breakfast from 7am in the Club prior to their shotgun start at 8.15am. On completion of their round they were joined for lunch by the 23 teams which participated in the afternoon with a 2.15pm start. The Weather Gods looked clemently and a rain free and temperate day was enjoyed by all.

Dinner and Prize Presentation took place at 8pm and an excellent meal and wines were enjoyed by all. The Milltown Captain and member of the Event Organising Committee, Brian Woods, welcomed all participants to the Milltown. President, Michael Dawson, was fulsome in his thanks to Eddie O’Connor and his team at Supernode for his very generous sponsorship of the Event and acknowledged with sincere thanks the Organising Committee of Conor Smyth, John Dawson, Brian Woods, Gav Lee and Barry Nestor. The formal side of the evening’s proceedings were brought to a close by an outstanding Charity Auction of a signed Ireland Triple Crown and Grand Slam Jersey which was bid and secured by a most generous John Gleeson for €4,500. The Jersey had been donated by Colleen Farrell and was presented to John Gleeson by Collen’s husband and Rugby Coach of some repute, Andy Farrell.

The Golf Day brought the curtain down on what has been an outstanding season of celebratory events and saw the completion of book recording the history of the Club’s first 150 years.
