Last bank holiday weekend, the 1st XV overcame Cork Con 35-27 in a thrilling encounter on the back pitch. It was no surprise to anyone that Harry Byrne was presented with the Man of the Match award (kindly sponsored by Causeway Capital) after his debut home performance. An excellent try from Adam Leavy in the latter half of the game has to be a contender for the #UBLTRY of the month, if not the season!

We had just under a 100 people in for the prematch lunch and the ‘Nearest Guess’ in the match forecast was won by Robbie Dolan. Frank Kenny, as previously mentioned,  arranged a wonderful presentation to Club President Kieran Mulligan at the  lunch of an ‘Allegedly’ signed portrait of the Munster team which beat the New Zealand All Blacks this week 40 years ago in 1978.

The new pitch side stands were a big hit with supporters despite the bitter cold and it was great to see such a big turnout on a bank holiday weekend!

After the match, last year’s President Butch Cassidy was on hand to present custom made cuff links to last year’s record breaking 1st XV to mark their successes.

The next game is away to Young Munster, this Saturday 3rd of November with the next home match Friday 23rd of November, KO 19:30.
