The headlines said it all.

RTE – ‘A huge honour,’ Ryan to Captain Ireland at Twickenham.

The Irish Independent – Farrell’s captain call the first step to James Ryan leading Ireland at next World Cup.

Irish Times – James Ryan to captain Ireland against England. -‘Huge honour’ as 24-year-old Ryan takes Ireland captaincy for England Test.

For any club, it is a huge honour and sense of pride and when one of their own earns an international cap but to be given the captaincy of your country is an achievement to cherish, especially when the game in question is against England in their citadel at Twickenham.

James Ryan is a ‘graduate’ of the Lansdowne FC Minis & Youths academy and he played the 2015/16 season with the 1st XV and U20s before he joined the Leinster Rugby senior squad as a regular starter.

James has featured for both Leinster and Ireland since then and will earn his 30th cap for his country on Saturday.

We wish James and his teamates every success on Saturday.
