That was some week that was.  Five days ago Lansdowne won the Ulster Bank League Final against Cork Con and a quick turnaround later our First XV have won the Leinster Senior Cup in Donnybrook (Energia Park).  The first half seemed to be quite a frenetic affair.  First score was to Lansdowne after 10m with a Penalty although ‘Nure quickly responded 7 minutes later with a Mark O’Neill try then followed by a Penalty to make it 10-3 after 24 mins.  Lansdowne didn’t score again for the rest of the first half but Nure weren’t finished their opening opportunities with another try by Harry Moore making it 17-3 to Terenure at the break.  Terenure twitter feed was reporting it as a “Ridiculus tempo at stages”.  Some game.

The second half was a different affair however.  Lansdowne were to tot up 50 points in 40 minutes.  Within moments Lansdowne were over for their first try and then another within 6 minutes.  Try number 3 came at 52 minutes played followed by a penalty try 10 minutes later.    Two more tries scored by Lansdowne before the final whistle and a consolation try for Nure.  Final score 53-22 to Lansdowne.

Call it a Triple Crown if you will, but the Bateman Cup, the Ulster Bank League and the Leinster Senior Cup all within 2 weeks ain’t half bad!
