The ‘International Brigade’ of the Lansdowne Under 14 B’s won their first round of the Cup away to a very strong but sporting North Meath RFC today. First try was scored with a lovely carry from Hugo Ponce who took the ball into contact before popping it out to the waiting hands of Tom Harold who touched down nicely. Great play from Lansdowne debutant Xavier Brennan who put up an incredible battle against his opposite numbers in the Front Row. Some expert kicks by Naoise McCann probing in behind the North Meath defence kept the opposition on their toes. From no. 1 to 15 they all played incredibly well and stepped up under the immense pressure North Meath were piling on our try line. Sam Sommerauer and Ayann Awan along with Dan Moran and Matthew Geraghty were tireless all day in defence.

Second half brought North Meath right back into the game and in the last 3 minutes went over for a third try of their own to make 17-12. Now with 60 seconds on the clock and some magic to conjure up, Naoise McCann kicked a long probing kick from the off. Lansdowne won two quick penalties. Some intense last minute pressure on the Meath try line and a quick pass out to our new man, Christian Fleming who scored to bring it level again 17-17. Gordey Kelly, Hugo Lambert, Liam Keating, Spencer Jordan, John Moran, and another LFC debutant Max McHugh all deserve praise. Lansdowne came away with the win as we scored first. Well done lads. Terrific effort from everybody.
