Our U20s have opened their JP Fanagan Prem 1 league with two hard-earned wins.

Coming from behind in both games, they overcame a strong UCD outfit in the Bowl and followed up with a last-minute victory over a very good Clontarf side.

Bonus points were achieved in both games, which could prove to be valuable later in the season.

The U20s bring invaluable new resources annually to the club. This doesn’t happen easily.

A huge amount of work goes into recruiting these players through a process of initial contact last April, all through the Summer months until CAO results dictate where they will want to play.

It is a great and sometimes frustrating challenge, as all prospective players are being similarly courted by other clubs. So, a big Kudos to Declan Fassbender, Phil Horan, Enda Bohan, and Charlie Doel for persuading these players that Lansdowne FC is the best place to develop as players.

This process continues to bear fruit as witnessed by this week’s AIL squad selection which comprises 75% of ex U20s.

This year’s crop of players comes from a good mixture of Schools & Youths.

As always, the U20s appreciate their regular supporters’ attendance at their Sunday afternoon games.

Next up is DUFC in College Park this Sunday at 15.00.

See you there!
