In a keenly contested and entertaining game on Sunday the U20s overcame a spirited UCD at Lansdowne Rd.

Lansdowne opened the scoring when loosehead prop Temi Lasisi crashed over after a series of attacking rucks for a try, converted by Stephen Madigan.  UCD had most of the possession for the next quarter, with their out half expertly pinning the 20s with long diagonal kicks behind our left flank. This eventually yielded a try which was converted to level the scoring.

Both sides missed try-scoring opportunities before Jack Barry went in under the posts after excellent handling from Lansdowne. Just on half time, winger John Maher injured his leg in an attempt to break out of defense and was replaced by Billy Foley.

UCD attacked from the start of the second half and leveled the scoring. Lansdowne set-piece improvement was key now and having declined a kickable penalty Lansdowne kicked to the corner and from this Rory Madigan put Lansdowne in front again out wide left. The try which was nicely converted by Billy Foley. UCD then leveled the game again after rumbling in under the posts.

With the game in the balance, Lansdowne went on the offensive and were awarded a penalty which was coolly converted by Billy Foley to give Lansdowne the points.
