On this day in 2009, the U20’s secured the JP Fanagan League title following a 11-19 victory over UCD in The Belfield Bowl. That season, the 20’s, captained by Patrick Mallon, won 7/8 games, scoring 157 points, scored 16 tries and conceded only 4 tries. They then went on to defeat UCD, 29-10 in the McCorry Cup Final, to complete the Double.

Many of the squad from that season went onto represent Lansdowne at various levels. Dave Kearney & Dominic Ryan were both capped by Leinster and Ireland, Jack O’Connell played professionally for Leinster, and Matt Healy & Craig Ronaldson played professionally for Connacht.
