It is with great sadness and a deep sense of loss that the members of Lansdowne learnt yesterday of the death of their fellow clubman, Peter Sutherland.
Peter inherited from his late father Billy, a true love of Lansdowne FC and of rugby.
He learnt his rugby in Gonzaga where he captained the JCT XV and SCT XV.
After school, Peter joined UCD and captained the 1st XV before joining Lansdownewhere he captained the club in 1970-71.
As a recent trustee, he showed his true commitment to Lansdowne, taking great pride in the success of the club on the rugby pitch and ensured the club was kept on a sound financial basis.
Peter’s great passion in life was the love of his family, his deep religious faith and his commitment to European integration.
To his devoted wife Maruja and to his children Shane, Natalia, Ian and his ten adored grandchildren, we extend our heartfelt sympathies.
