Many of Ireland’s greatest Rugby players have crossed codes from GAA to Rugby and back again.  Household names such as Shane Horgan (Meath), the great Mick Galwey (Kerry) and  current Ireland Ladies Lindsay Peat and Hannah Tyrrell (who both played senior ladies football for Dublin)  have all gone from the round ball to the Oval.  Indeed 5 of the starting 15 for Gonzaga in last Sunday’s Leinster Senior Cup are prominent GAA players with our neighbouring club Clann Na Gael Fontenoy.

It is with Clann Na Gael that two of the Lansdowne Ladies have found a home and have expanded their influence both within the club and with the Dublin U14 Girls.  Many in LFC iwll be all too familiar with the Rooney brand.  Steve Rooney who is not only a notable former player in his own right but also serves as Lansdowne’s Director of Senior Rugby and has a leading rorle in coaching the Girls Rugby at Lansdowne where his youngest daughter Grace plays..  Sean Rooney is one of the consistent performers with the under 11s and recently made his AIL debut by playing up a grade with the Under 12s verus Shannon.  His daughter Sarah now plays in the Midfield position on  the Dublin Girls u14 side and has Sasha O’Neill on her panel.  The girls recently beat Meath 6-5(23) to 2-0(15)

We wish Sarah and Sasha continued success.
