On Wednesday 30th October, Bobby Geraghty and James Fegan’s U11’s had the pleasure of hosting St. Columbas College from St. Albans in North West London at Lansdowne Road.  The Columbas boys were on tour to Dublin which took in matches against Navan, Lansdowne & Coolmine.  Definitely highlight of the trip for them was a unique opportunity to play under the floodlights in the shadow of the Aviva Stadium.

We played two teams of 10 boys each for twenty minute games.  Lansdowne opened the scoring early in the first half on pitch 1 with a try from Paddy Whelan following a turnover on the Columbas 22.  There was some great skills on display and some particularly skillful tackling from Jonah Crowley to save an almost certain try from Columbas.   Columbas never let up and got a try early in the second to make it 2 tries to 1 in the first game.

It was then back to the clubhouse for a well earned slice of pizza and a juice where both captains exchanged gifts.  The St. Columbas shield will receive pride of place on the wall and each of the Columbas boys returns home to London with a Lansdowne season medal.
