Lansdowne FC  36 Blackrock RFC 14

Lansdowne U20s retained 3rd spot in the U20s Premier league with an incredible  26 point blitz in the last 8 minutes.

Playing with the wind the contest was even for the opening half hour before Tom Monaghan broke several tackles to score and excellent try out wide. This was well converted by Stephen Madigan.

The festive season rustiness was very apparent as Lansdown struggled to gain any further advantage. Poor discipline allowed  Blackock  back into the game and things were looking dim when Rock took the lead after Lansdowne were yellow carded with 15 minutes to go. But a series of blistering break outs by Sean Galvin rejuvinated the team and Lansdowne ran out deserving winners, with our backline playing some scintillating rugby, with tries from Cillian Redmond (2), Tom Monaghan and Brian O’Donnell.

A great start to 2019.
