Lansdowne 25  MU Barnhall 10

Lansdowne U20s progressed to the final of the McCorry cup after a deserved win against MU Barnhall on Wednesday night in  Templeville Rd .

A well drilled Barnhall team started strongly and  had  most of the possession over the first quarter. They took the lead after Lansdowne were penalised for infringing at the breakdown. But the Lansdowne defence was very solid, and they grew into the game and equalized before half time with a Stephen Madigan penalty.

The second half saw Lansdowne going on the offensive. A wonderfully worked switchback  led to Robbie Kidney going in for an unconverted try.

This was followed by a sublime cross-field kick from Stephen Madigan which was expertly fielded by winger Cillian Redmond to score out wide.

This was converted to put some daylight between the sides. Another long range penalty was then converted by Stephen Madigan.

Lansdowne were playing all the rugby now and extended their lead when Cillian Redmond added to his try tally by finishing off in the corner, again well converted

by Stephen Madigan. In the closing minutes, MU Barnhall , to their credit, were rewarded a penalty try for a maul collapse.

Thanks for all the support on the night!

Lansdowne will now play Terenure in the final. All support welcome.
