This Saturday 14th April sees the League Table top and bottom place holders play the final round 18 of the Ulster Bank League before the play-offs.

Mike Ruddock’s First XV who have been dominant at the top of the table all season will play Buccaneers who unfortunately have already been confirmed as relegated from Div 1a for next season.

Coach Mike Ruddock was delighted to break his Young Munster jinx last weekend with a hard-fought 27-24 away victory in Greenfields, Limerick, last Saturday.  Out half Scott Deasy scored his 196th Ulster Bank League point of the season against the Cookies, thus equalling Craig Ronaldson’s all-time Lansdowne AIL points record for a season set in 2012/13 – and with a minimum of two more matches still to be played in the current campaign! Scott has now scored 778 points for Lansdowne in his 87 League matches, and the Club is hopeful he will break the 800 points barrier this season. Not bad for a player still in his 20’s!

Tries were scored by the ever present Tyrone Moran (2) and centre Mark O’Keefe (1).  This was Mark’s ninth try of the UBL campaign to date.

Meanwhile, Dubarry Park based Buccaneers have had it tough in the Big League having won only 2 of their 16 matches so far.  They beat UCD at home (19-13) and St. Mary’s away (10-11).  Perhaps then it is a fitting farefwell tribute to the Buccs that they play on the main pitch at the Aviva Stadium.  Kick off as usual is at 2:30pm.

Oisin Quinn will referee Saturday’s fixture.
