Club Update

Following this week’s online End of Season AGM, we would just like to give you a quick update on what’s happening in the world of Lansdowne FC.

We are delighted to congratulate Colin Goode on his election as President of Lansdowne. Colin has been a huge strength within the Rugby management for the last number of years and we look forward to having him at the helm during what will be a challenging season ahead.

Stephen Rooney steps up to Vice President and we welcome Michael Dawson onto the Executive as Junior Vice President. Mick was first elected JVP 19 years ago but had to step down when he became Chief Executive of Leinster.

With Colin’s election, we bid a fond farewell and a massive thank you to outgoing President Derry Shaw. Derry’s presidency was cut short but in these last few months despite the lack of rugby, Derry was still leading the charge with fundraising initiatives and being an extraordinary ambassador for the club.

John Flanagan also retired as Trustee this week and Oisin O’Buachalla was appointed to the board of Trustees in his stead. John has given many years of service to Lansdowne and we cannot thank him enough.

Derry Shaw was made an honorary Life Member as was Mike Ruddock. Lads, don’t worry we’ll present you with your ‘Scrumptious’ pictures in due course!

As Colin undertakes the Presidency, he will step down as Chairman of Rugby and Enda Bohan will take his place. Enda Bohan will be known to most members as a 2-time captain of the 1st XV and we look forward to working with him.

The rest of the Rugby management will continue as is with Stephen Rooney as Director of Rugby, Mark MacMahon as Director of U20 rugby, Ian Hopkins as Director of Junior Rugby, Brian Moran as Chairman of Minis & Youths Rugby, Mark McHugh as Head Coach of the 1st XV and Jack Dwan will continue as Club Captain.

Needless to say, there is still a huge amount of uncertainty about the season ahead and we appreciate that can be a bit unsettling but we have some huge opportunities ahead of us and would encourage everyone to keep working away so that when the season gets up and running, we can really hit the ground running.
