The First XV are currently in Division 1A of the All Ireland League. Lansdowne is a club that focuses on developing players to fulfill their potential and maximise their rugby ability whilst striving to play an attractive and successful brand of rugby. Lansdowne promotes the camaraderie amongst players long associated with rugby.

The Lansdowne U20’s has been a breeding ground for future internationals, recent 8 internationals include Cian Kelleher, Peter Dooley, Adam Boland, Matt Healy, Jack O’Connell, Foster Horan, Tom Daly and Max Deegan.  Recent Irish Internationals to have come through the Lansdowne ranks include Jordi Murphy, Marty Moore, Dave Keamey and Gordon D’Arcy. We are very proud of Devin Toner who was capped in 2013 and became our 100th International player and of course Eoin Reddan whose family have a long association with the Club. The club has also supplied several players to the Irish Club International side over past seasons.

Undoubtedly, 2012/2013 was the greatest season in the history of the Club when, captained by Ross McCarron and coached by Mike Ruddock and Emmett Farrell, the 1st XV brought home the All Ireland League for the first time in our history. This was followed in 2014/2015 when captain Ron Boucher led his team to another All Ireland League title once again under the guidance of Mike Ruddock and Mark McHugh.

The U20s, captained by a very capable Brian Larkin, started their season with 3 wins to qualify for the Premier Division 1.  They got off to a perfect league start with bonus point wins over Blackrock, Terenure, Clontarf, St.Mary’s and Navan. In late November and early December, we faced the well-resourced college teams. We beat Trinity with a bonus point on the back pitch and beat UCD in Belfield on the following Sunday. At the Christmas break, we were unbeaten and top of the league! 2017 began as 2016 ended with bonus point wins over Blackrock and Terenure. At Clontarf, we let our lead slip away and ended with a draw when Tarf scored a penalty try on the last play of the game. St. Mary’s conceded to us and we followed that with a home win over Navan, scoring 8 tries! Trinity and UCD were to round out the campaign. At Trinity, we won 38-29 scoring 6 tries to win the league with a game to spare. For good measure, we overcame UCD to maintain our unbeaten league season. There were many representative honours: Ireland 20s: Tadgh McElroy, Oisin Dowling, Greg McGrath and Paul Boyle who was appointed Captain for the World Cup. Leinster U20s: Greg McGrath, Barry Fitzpatrick, Paul Boyle, Tim Murphy, Martin Mulhall, Oisin Dowling, Tadgh McElroy and Thomas O’Callaghan Munster U20s: Lee Molloy

Lansdowne F.C. first and second teams train together as a squad. This enables the team run drills against each other and benefit from competition for places. The major benefit is that all players can learn the same team plays and seamlessly step in for first team players when the occasion arises. The Lansdowne 2ndXV is always competitive and has a proud place in the history of the club.

The team compete in Division 1 of the Metropolitan League.

Lansdowne J2 team currently play in Section A of the Leinster J2 League.

This is a Competitive standard of club rugby.

We welcome all former U20 players and any club players looking to play Saturday rugby at a competitive standard.

Just as last season the League will be run as a “Super Six” competition as follows:

  • Phase 1 – 2 Pools of 6 teams in each Pool with each team playing every other team once.
  • Phase 2 – Top 3 teams in each of the Phase 1 pools will play in Section A while the remaining 6 teams will play in Section B. Phase 1 results between teams advancing to the same Phase 2 Section will be carried forward.

The J3’s have been the most success junior team in Lansdowne and Leinster over the past ten years.

The morale on this team is amazing and the League and Cup Double was brought home to Lansdowne Rd amid great celebrations at the end of last season.

The Killer B’s are part of Lansdowne Football Club (3rd B team), we play in the J4 league of the Leinster domestic league.

We train every Monday (gym) and Wednesday (pitch) evening at 6:30pm in Lansdowne Road. Training lasts until 8pm. Although we have good numbers training we always welcome new players with or without experience.

We will take time to coach all players regardless of their experience.

The Killer B’s are primarily a social team, it is important that the players enjoy themselves both on and off the pitch. Not withstanding, we have high expectations of our players in their attitude in training, on the pitch and the success of team for the year. We have been lucky that nearly every year we manage to have an end of year tour which has been a great success since it was started by the then captain Kai Meyer in 2001/2002 season. Long may it continue.

This season there will be three Sections in the League of which Sections “A” & “B” will be contested on the same “Super Six” format as last season while Section “C” will be played on a home and away basis. We are in Section A

A reminder of how the “Super Six” operates in two phases is as follows:

  1. Each Section will initially be divided into two Pools of six with each team playing every other team once.
  2. The top three teams in both Pools will then advance into a 6-team Division, with their results against the teams advancing with them being carried forward into Phase 2. They will then play a complete home and away league with the other five teams (including the games carried forward). The bottom three teams in both groups will enter a similar pool and carry on likewise.

Lansdowne Longhorns

The Lansdowne Longhorns are the club veterans/over 35 team who are presently competing in the Leinster vets league. The ethos in the team should always be that we have left our competing days well and truly behind us, and this is all about fun and socialising.

The team subscribes to the 3 philosophical pillars of ‘Course Rugby’ which are:

  • Training should, if possible, be avoided as it takes the edge off our game
  • Winning is sometimes an unfortunate by-product of our cavalier style
  • If in doubt, run for it!

We are always looking for more players, so if you were born in or before 1974 you qualify so dont be shy, give it a try!

Contact the clubhouse or any of the coaches.

We’ll add more details soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.
