The U20s winning streak hit a road bump on Sunday when they went down narrowly to Old Belvedere.

This highly competitive game was played in occasionally atrocious conditions, including thunder & lightning followed by a hailstorm.

Belvo started well in the set-piece and opened the scoring to lead 7-0. Lansdowne recovered and rumbled over, with loosehead prop Frank Kavanagh touching down.

Stephen Madigan converted to leave the sides level. Old Belvedere re-took the lead shortly before half time with a try out wide and then increased their lead with a penalty after the break to lead 15-7.

Lansdowne then narrowed the gap when Eoin Buggy powered over to finish after several phases. Indiscipline then provided Belvo with an easy penalty to make the score 19-14.

With time ticking away, Lansdowne attacked and Jesse Allen finished well to score out wide to give Lansdowne the lead. The conversion was narrowly missed.

With injury time approaching, Lansdowne defended well but eventually infringed again to give Old Belvedere a simple kick to win the game. Well done to them.

Next up is Old Wesley in Donnybrook on Sunday at high noon.

Thanks again to all our supporters who braved the inclement weather.
