What a weekend for the Ireland Men’s Sevens, as after 6 years of hard work and dedication, they booked their place at the Tokyo Games with a 28-19 victory at the final Qualifying tournament in Monaco.

The team, including Lansdowne players Mark Roche, Ian Fitzpatrick, Foster Horan and Adam Leavy, made history with the win over France in the final of the World Rugby Sevens repechage, securing the final place in the Men’s Seven Competition in Tokyo. This makes them the first Irish Rugby team to compete at the Olympics in an achievement that can’t be underestimated.

The Olympic Men’s Rugby Sevens competition will take place from 26-28 July, with all games taking place at Tokyo Stadium, which hosted the opening match of Rugby World Cup 2019.

Congratulations to the whole team but a special shout out to Mark, Ian, Foster and Adam doing the club proud!
